“Londonderry Double Decker”
Painting is 11” x 15” Framed to 15” x 19”
En plein air watercolor painting done on a July morning in South Londonderry, Vermont.
South Londonderry is one of the many archetypical Vermont villages that sit astride iconic Vermont Rt 100.
The subject is the weathered yellow building sitting up on the rise. But, as is often the case in my paintings, light is the real subject here. One expects warm weather in July, but this was a cool morning. The warm light, was contrasted with a painting filled with cool hues. The contrast brings attention to the light while making it feel like one might need a long-sleeved shirt on this summer day.
