Newly scheduled! Single session online workshops dive into a single subject showing techniques and methods that give beautiful results!

Workshops are offered on Saturdays - 1 to 4pm. Date for each workshop is shown below. Classes are recorded and available for 30 days beyond class date.

HOW TO PAINT SKIES & CLOUDS - Saturday, August 23, 2025 - 1 to 4pm

Learn everything you need to paint light, airy skies along with several common types of clouds. Class includes four follow-along paint projects that for learning and practicing methods for:

  • Clear blue summer sky

  • An easy lift methods for adding clouds to any sky

  • The “dappled sky” - blue sky and fluffy clouds in all their glory

  • The ‘upside down’ sky - aka evening and morning sky where light to dark is reversed

HOW TO PAINT AUTUMN TREES AND FOLIAGE - Saturday, September 6, 2025 - 1 to 4pm

Fall landscapes and autumn trees are popular subjects. Learn how to paint the season, its beautiful color and golden glow. Trees are harder to paint than they seem. Learn to get them right with these follow-along paint demos:

  • Making trees look ‘right’ with proper proportion & scale

  • NO LOLLIPOP TREES! - The idea of asymmetry in forming the canopy

  • The secret to bright peak foliage - Light, Shadow, Contrast

HOW TO PAINT WATER - Saturday, October 4, 2025 - 1 to 4pm

Water is a prominent feature in many landscape scenes. Although it’s tricky, there are ways to get the right look with little effort. Learn how with with these follow-along paint demos:

  • Reverse gradation for the mirror effect

  • Easy Reflections - vertical/horizontal + value contrast

  • Moving Water - ripples and current

  • Shallows - transparency instead of reflection

HOW TO BIRCH TREES IN SNOW - Saturday, November 15, 2025 - 1 to 4pm

There are few subjects that watercolor artists love more than birch trees in winter. Often the attraction is in the drama of bright winter sunlight, shadowed bark and long shadows on snow. Learn the essentials for your own compelling birch tree paintings with these follow-along painting demos:

  • Simple shapes - light & form

  • Peeling Bark

  • The color of snow

  • Shadows On Snow
