"Bass Rocks, Afternoon Light" - en plein air watercolor seascape painting

$1,000.00

Painting is 11” x 15” Framed to 15” x 19”

The back shore area in Gloucester is a favorite painting spot for me. The shore is rocky and rugged. The sea can be calm and quiet or quite rugged itself. The rocks are a curiously colored orange that is enhanced in certain kinds of light.

The mid-October light on this particular afternoon seemed to deepen the orange color and darken shadows.

Used a simple, complementary color scheme for both unity and interesting, color boosting contrasts.
