"Outcrop" - original watercolor painting

$500.00

Painting is 7 1/2” x 10 1/2” Framed to 11” x 14”

Often inspiration comes from older pieces found in sketchbooks. That is the case for this painting which has its beginnings in an older pencil sketch of a rugged coastline and foamy, moving water.

Starting with a pencil sketch means that choices of color scheme, lighting and mood open allowing many possibilities.

In this case, the choice was to make depict a cooler, misty day. The color scheme is a primary triad of red, yellow and blue but dominated by cool neutrals.

Painting is done on Saunders 140lb Cold Press watercolor paper.
