“Neighborhood Scene” - watercolor landscape painting
“Neighborhood Scene”
Painting is 11” x 15”. Currently unframed.
Given that hardly anyone burns their leaves anymore, the scene in this painting is an ‘old-timey’ one. But, it’s been on my mind for a while. It’s a depiction of the final stage of the fall ritual.
The beginning stage is the raking of fallen leaves into a pile then lighting them up. The visual image seems both calming and comforting since it represents the beautiful and quiet time of fall and the transition into longer nights and colder weather.
As mentioned the idea and scene have been in on my mind for a while. While capturing the ritual act, I wanted the painting to also capture the gentle light and raking shadows that are so prominent when the autumn season is on the wane.
This painting can be seen in my Studio-Gallery and is available for purchase online.
